Initial Problem:
Client having issues with Orange randomly dropping out. Client would get Orange to come back but then it would drop in the middle of a print or by the next morning. Head is only 2 years old.
Initial Findings:
Bottom of head looked in good condition except for minor cleaning issues. Maintenance station height was a bit too low, possible capping issue. Might also be the ink valve sticking and not opening quick enough but printer is only about 4 years old.
Resolution:
Replaced the 4 dampers and captop. Replaced the ink valve. Adjusted the maintenance station height to correct specifications. Problem still persisted. It even effected the light black next to the orange when I was testing.
Did not think a 2 year old head would have the following problem. Decided to do a manual flush on the orange channel. When attempting to flush, the cleaning solution came up inside the head on another channel. This confirms that the internal head seal between channels is blown. Only resolution is to replace head.
Replaced head and calibrated. Problem resolved and no further issues.
Here you can see to overspray of the Orange, all the way where the metal cover is for a second captop (used for the CJV-300). A good inch or two past the captop.
No visible damage to bottom of print head
Multiple cleanings to see if Orange will stabilize after replacing the 4 dampers and 1 captop. Also adjusted the maintenance station height as it was off by a few millimeters height.
